July 2003

Judges selected JEFF FARNSWORTH to screen during this year's Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF), August 5-10, 2003. It is a exhibition selection finalist, and also in consideration for one of the festival awards. The festival is one of a select few that allows films to contend for a 2003 Academy Award Qualifying Short Submission.


June 2003

JEFF FARNSWORTH has been selected to be screened at the CineVegas Film Festival . The film will screen on Saturday, June 14th and Monday, June 16th, preceeding the feature film ASSISTED LIVING. More details can be found at the CineVegas Web Site .


May 2003

Paul Cotter took part in the semi-finals of the Chrysler Million Dollar Film Festival in New York City between May 1st and May 10th. The ten semifinalists each had 10 days to cast, shoot, edit and premiere an original five-minute short film featuring one of Chrysler 2004 models. Paul's film, LAST HAND STANDING, was successful in landing him a position in the Final Stage which takes place in Los Angeles in the summer. The five finalists are given an office on the Universal lot and mentored by industry execs while developing a feature project to be pitched in the concluding stage of the competition at the Toronto fest this fall. Top prize in the competition is a $1 million feature production deal with U and distribution via Focus Features. LAST HAND STANDING can be viewed at the Finalist page of the Festival Web Site .

The 17th Annual Washington DC International Film Festival selected JEFF FARNSWORTH as part of their official program of films.


March 2003

Based on his qualifying film, JEFF FARNSWORTH, and a subsequent 5 minute short film script, the Chrysler Million Dollar Film Festival has chosen Paul Cotter as one of the 10 semifinalists for the Extreme Filmmaking phase of the yearlong competition backed Hypnotic and Universal Pictures. Top prize in the competition is a $1 million feature production deal with Universal.  The semifinalists each have 10 days in early May to cast, shoot, edit and premiere an original five-minute Chrysler-branded short featuring one of the auto company's 2004 models.  See http://www.chryslermdff.com/contestants.asp for more details.

JEFF FARNSWORTH has been selected by the organising committee of the First Festival Internacional del Cine Pobre to be held in Gibara, Cuba from 21st to the 25th April, 2003.  The Festival is organised by the Cuban Institute for Film Art and Industry and the Ministry of Culture, and presided over by Cuban Film director Humberto Solás, and aims to show films that have been made with a very low budget, thereby "making the film world more democratic through the use of new technologies and increasing the participation of new video filmmakers of all latitudes, who haven't had access to this career before."


Jeff Farnsworth has been officially selected for the Gen Art Film Festival in New York City. 7 Feature Films and 7 Short Film are premiered in New York City from April 2nd through April 8th, 2003. JEFF FARNSWORTH will screen on Friday night, April 4th at Lowes Cineplex 34th Street, between 8th and 9th.  The program will begin at 7:30pm and it will be followed by the feature film THE NEW SUIT by Francois Velle.  A daytime screening will take place at Show-135 W. 41st between 6th and Broadway.


 
January 2003

Based on his submission film JEFF FARNSWORTH, Paul Cotter has been selected as a quarterfinalist in the 2003 Chrysler Million Dollar Film Festival .  As a result, JEFF FARNSWORTH has been acquired for worldwide distribution by Hypnotic.

JEFF FARNSWORTH has been accepted into competition at the 2003 Cinequest Film Festival , which will take place February 27 - March 9 in San Jose, California.  It will be part of the MAVERICK SHORT FILM COMPETITION OF INTERNATIONAL CINEMA.


A minute scene from JEFF FARNSWORTH has been accepted into the Berlin Film Festival's Talent Campus and will be screened as part of a week long presentation of screenings and seminars highlighting emerging filmmakers from around the world.



December 2002

The British Council (the state-financed cultural body charged with broadening and building international audiences for new work from Britain) accepted JEFF FARNSWORTH as one of the slate of films they will actively promote around the world.
