This applies ONLY to this breed. I tried it on Welsummers and got 100% failure. You can also try and pick the cockerels when combs first appear or just spend a lot of time watching the chicks behaviour.
This is a cockerel - note the developed comb and no tail - just what we call "bum-fluff".
