During the summer months, a variety of fascinating, additional events are held in the appropriate settings of The Town, Colliery Village and Pockerley Manor. There is no extra charge for these - admission is included in the museum entry charge.

APRIL

16th to 19th

Georgian Spring Fair
A recreation of the hustle and bustle of a Georgian Spring Fair at Beamish. Enjoy a short, guided walk through the Georgian landscape, see labourers at work in the fields, admire the traditional livestock and meet the workers for hire. Adding to the atmosphere and excitement will be a fire eater, trinket sellers and Northumbrian music. Traditional craftsmen will demonstrate wood turning, basket weaving, corn dolly making and willow hurdle making. There will be a great selection of family activities too, with story telling and even an opportunity to try on period costume.

Great North Steam Fair
Relive the golden days of steam. Visiting locomotives are in steam at the Beamish Railway Station and Colliery and much more besides. With vintage vehicles, steam rollers, traction engines, stationary engines, the magnificent colliery winding engine and guest appearances of fabulous machines. A must for steam and transport enthusiasts alike.

Agricultural Show
Enjoy a traditional agricultural show and experience all things rural. With demonstrations of ploughing, country crafts and agricultural machinery alongside displays of 'fur and feather', livestock and industry classes.
