The Bowen technique

Bowen
is a non-invasive, very gentle form of bodywork which works on the fascia, the connective tissue of the muscles. The light moves employed in the Bowen technique appear to send messages to the central nervous system which encourage the body’s self-healing ability to start working.

Bowen takes its name from Tom Bowen, an Australian, who was the originator and was a great intuitive healer. He never detailed how the technique works but he did refer to energies being trapped in one area of the body which he said needed to be released so that the body is free to get on with healing itself.

The effectiveness of the treatment was demonstrated by the thousands of successful treatments given by Tom Bowen during his career as a therapist. Towards the end of his life he invited an osteopath, Ossie Rentsch, to document the procedures he used and Ossie Rentsch now devotes his time to teaching the technique all over the world.

Bowen can be used very effectively to treat a wide variety of conditions including:-

Back problems

Frozen shoulders/ Tennis elbows

Sports injuries

ME/PMT

Asthma & Hayfever

Chronic headaches/Migraines

And other stress related illnesses

The treatments last from approximately twenty-five minutes to an hour and a deep level of relaxation is generally experienced. The number of treatments required is variable but, with the exception of long-standing chronic conditions, four to six treatments usually bring about the necessary improvement.
