Items Wanted For Display
I am always
on the lookout for items to add to my display collection relating to 626
Squadron and the role of the RAF Lancaster Wireless Operator. Below are some of the items I am
particularly interested in acquiring.
RAF Wireless
Operator’s Signals Logbook. (Not Flying Log Book). May be the RAF Form 398, RAF W/T (Wireless Telegraphy) Log.
This was the small buff coloured book that Wireless Operators logged
all messages and transmission in. I
believe it was about 8” x 6” and landscape in design.
Signals
Satchel (Also known as ‘Gen. Satchel’)
These Satchels were issued to RAF Wireless Operators prior to them
going on an operations sortie, they were signed for and contained such items as
the days radio code words, the days frequencies and ciphers,
signals
log book, signal message forms and spare radio valves, fuses and
bulbs. It would also have contained
pens, ruler, rubbers, coloured pencils, and sharpener!
Type G Oxygen
Mask
This type of oxygen mask was used by all Bomber Command aircrew members
during WWII.
Air Ministry
Issue Items
I am looking for an A.M. marked wooden ruler.
