We were just in Mexico and found your bird page fascinating. When we were there, no one had a bird book. A lady in the gift shop tried to find us one. She found one (literally one) in a bookstore about 50 miles away that was in Spanish. We probably will be going back every year and I am quite anxious to find a good book. I have Peterson's Mexico book be could not find some of the birds that we saw. I am an amateur genealogist also. One of my greatest events was to walk on a little path by the River

My maiden name is Buckton. My Great grand parents were Wiiliam Frederick Buckton and Jane Hughes who married in 1854 in Gt Boughton. My grand father was William Bernard Buckton born in Camberwell in 1871. I have been unable to find any trace of William and Jane or where William Bernard grew up. I believe it was in Yorkshire. I know William Frederick died in 1872. Can anyone help?

Fascinating to read about Edward Buckton Cargill. My gt gt gt grandfather - Robert Ford - married his sister after his first wife (my gt gt gt grandmother) died. As Robert was a Captain and Warden of Trinity House, he and Edward would have known each other well I expect.

Just got back from Mexican Riviera today and was in love with a beautiful bird. Some man said it was a "water bird". I think he didn't really know what it was. I asked another man and he said it was a frigetbird. I was happy to see on your site that he was right! Beautiful bird that sings a lovely tune!

Great pictures on the turkey vultures! We have just begun to notice them in our area and formerly thought they were hawks because we were not able to see them up close to view the red heads. Since then we have seen a few by the street, or on rooftops. It was nice to see such an awesome creature thru your pictures. Thank you.
